report:
BOOTHTOWN TERRIERS 10 SHARLSTON ROVERS ‘A’ 14
SCORERS
JASON DODD 1 TRY
MICK FIELD 1 TRY
PAUL RAWSON 1 GOAL
Boothtown lost this game through brainless rugby, trying to power over the line past a very organised Sharlston defence when the ball out wide would have reaped rewards.
Terriers were first to score when Jason Dodd stole the ball in the tackle and raced under the sticks, Paul Rawson converted for a 6-0 lead. Defences were then dominating the game with Paul Rawson and Wayne Oakes making a trysaving tackle and at the other end Jamie Love was held up over the line after a superb run. Sharlston went in at the break 8-6 up after a converted try and a penalty.
Defences were to the fore in the second half but Boothtown went back in the lead briefly when Mick Field scored in the corner with the help of several Terriers players after a midfield break from Simon Farrar. Midway through the half Sharlston scored the decisive try to lead 14-10 and despite a good midfield break from Ryan Hedges Boothtown couldn’t penetrate the good Sharlston defence. |
