Boothtown Terriers progressed to the Handicap cup final after winning at the death against an experienced Siddal B side, in a keenly contested local derby. Siddal started the brighter with George Parkinson pulling the strings for the visitors and it was no surprise when he created the opening unconverted try. This spurred Boothtown on and they scored 2 quick tries, first through inform forward Trent Ashton, Paul Rawson hitting the post with the conversion attempt then after a good kick and chase they forced an error and Ryan Hedges kicked the loose ball to the in goal area and pounced for the try converted by Paul Rawson. Siddal responded well with a try from the evergreen Martin Thompson who scattered several defenders on his way to the line before Jason Dodd scored a typical individual try under the posts and with Paul Rawson’s conversion, Terriers had the lead at half time 16-8. Siddal started the second half strongly with 2 early tries one converted but Boothtown again responded with two unconverted tries through Ben Mallas and Jason Dodd with his second try of the game .With 10 minutes to go Siddal scored a converted try to take the lead with the handicap and looked like they might hold on until centre Craig Knowles barged over wide on the right and with Paul Rawson tagging on the extra two, it was all square on the handicap 30-30 with a couple of minutes to go. Siddal then saw a last minute drop goal attempt go wide before the Terriers worked their way up field and were awarded a penalty 35 yards out and ten in from touchline and skipper Paul Rawson majestically stroked it over to clinch a superb win and a final berth for the Terriers who had Jamie Love in outstanding form throughout.
