report:
BOOTHTOWN TERRIERS 0 Lindly Swifts’ 16
Despite being scoreless Boothtown fought promotion chasing Lindley toe to toe despite missing several players and the score could have been closer but for some poor refereeing.
Boothtown started slowly with a couple of dropped passes and Lindley took an early 4-0 lead with a try.
Boothtown then started to play and good driving from Ben Mallas and Wayne Oakes forced Lindley back and a crunching tackle from Adam Berry set the scene for the rest of the half. Dave Love had a barnstorming run halted as terriers applied some pressure but Lindley held firm to lead 4-0 at half time.
In the second half Boothtown’s scoring chances were limited and they held their own but Lindley extended the lead with a contentious try, given by the ref who was the only person who believed the ball was over the line and with the try converted Lindley led 10-0. Boothtown still wouldn’t lie down and with Jason Dodd and Dale Brown probing behind an hard working pack led by Captain Paul Rawson.
With veteran Andy Charlesworth doing sterling work in defence, Lindley were finding it hard work to break clear. Lindley completed their scoring with their third try and a penalty but Boothtown take all the plaudits with another top notch performance against another high flying side.
