BOOTHTOWN TERRIERS 16 DEARNE VALLEY 26
SCORERS
SIMON FARRAR 2 TRIES
BRIAN JACKSON 1 TRY
PAUL RAWSON 2 GOALS
Boothtown were unlucky not to register another win on the back of last weeks moral boosting display against Halifax Irish.
Boothtown got off to the worst possible start, conceding a try that to the amazement of both sides was given by the ref after a valley player stole the ball with several valley players in the tackle. Things then got worse with Boothtown conceding two penalties for back chat and valley strolled over for their second try and open up a 12-0 lead. Boothtown then found some form and were starting to be aggressive in the tackle and forced valley to camp in their own half and got back in the game with Simon Farrar scoring two tries, the first after Jamie Love released the ball in the tackle and the second after gathering his own chip, Paul Rawson converted both to level at 12-12.
In the second half Boothtown continued to push Valley back with Mark Sutcliffe, Steve and Jamie love and Paul Rawson driving well, Paul Rawson and Ben Mallas working overtime in the tackling department and finally took the lead when Brian Jackson intercepted a Valley pass and raced over from halfway to lead 16-12. Boothtown then looked for the killer score but valley held firm and found their second wind to score two more tries and a late penalty to seal their win.
