Boothtown
fought heroically
after having
a player sent off and
playing the last 60 mins
with 12 men. Stanningley
scored a
first minute try
to get off to a flyer
but Boothtown
regained composure and
started to get back in
the game
with
big Martin Loughrey making
some powerful drives.
Chris
Metcalf then burst
clear from 40yrds and
handed
off
the fullback to score
an excellent
solo try to make the
score 4-6. Stanningley
then scored
two converted tries to
put some breathing space
between
the sides before Boothtown
were reduced
to twelve men with the
sending off, then eleven
with a player in the
sin bin. Stanningley
then went down to twelve
with a player
in the sin bin as the
ref suddenly
went card crazy.
Deep
in first
half
stoppage time Stanningley
scored
a killer try to make
the half time score 4-24.
The twelve Terriers then
took the game to the
Thirteen Stanningley
players and with a typical
burst from Paddy
Dolan who sprinted
away from 60yrds out
to score another outstanding
try, and Simon Farrar's
conversion,
Terriers were back in
the game at 10-24.
Terriers
kept Stanningley out
for almost all the second
half
as they
tackled like Trojans
with Steve love and Jason
Dodd showing typical
Terriers spirit with
try saving tackles. As
the twelve
men tired Stanningley
scored
two
late tries to give
the score a rather flattering
look.
