Boothtown
put in a better performance
this week
and
but for a poor 20 minute
spell in
second half could
have won. Boothtown were
quick out of the blocks
when the impressive Jason
Dodd put in a kick and
won the chase to the
ball, then when the ball
was swung wide Wayne
Steel put Steve Love
in at the
corner. Jason Dodd
then put Paddy Dolan
through a gap
and he ploughed through
the Wyke
fullback to score the
second try and Paul Rawson's
conversion
gave them an handy
10-0 lead after only
7 mins.
Wyke
pulled 4 points back with
a try
before the lead was increased
again when
Scott Lindsey sent
Jason Dodd through a
gap and he did the rest
from 60yrds out for a
quality try and an equally
good conversion
from the
touchline from Paul Rawson.
Boothtown
then gifted Wyke
a try when a pass was
intercepted
and the Wyke player had
a clear 80yrd run to
the line. Boothtown pressed
before
half
time and Sub Mark
Wadsworth scythed through
on a mazy
run
but the defenders halted
him and
left
the terriers ahead 16-10
at the break.
A
sloppy
20 mins saw Wyke score
3 tries
and
knock over a drop goal
to take
a 27-16 lead. With
Dean Robertshaw who was
making his debut, leading
from
the
front, Boothtown never
gave
in and
Jason Dodd's second
try and Paul Rawson's
third
goal
gave them one last
chance to win the game
but time
ran
out on them
