report:
BOOTHTOWN TERRIERS 22 VICTORIA RANGERS 29
SCORERS
JASON DODD 2 TRIES
DAVE LOVE 1 TRY
DANNY RICHARDSON 1 TRY
PAUL RAWSON 3 GOALS
Boothtown started the game well, attacking the Rangers line and after pressure from the Boothtown forwards full back Jason Dodd found a gap from a short ball off Simon Farrar and raced over for a try, Paul Rawson converting. More pressure and fast play the balls saw great yardage from Wayne Oaks, Jamie Love and Trent Ashton laying the platform for Jason Dodd who once again found a gap and he raced and dodged the Rangers defence to score his second try, again Rawson adding the goal for a 12-0 lead. Paul Rawson extended the lead with a penalty before Rangers replied with a try from close range to make the score 14-6. Vics scored another try just before half time to leave Terriers with a slender two point lead at the break.
At the start of the second half great running by Liam kaval and Dave Featherstone took Boothtown upfield from where veteran Dave Love powered his way over the line from 20 yards to score. 16 year old Danny Richardson then scored his first try in open age rugby and Boothtown had a deserved 22-12 lead. With the game seemingly in the bag 10 mins of madness in the passing and kicking department saw the Terriers squander the lead by first giving away an interception try, then a Vics player shrugging off four would be tacklers to crash over the line which gave Vics the lead for the fist time at 22-24. A drop goal and an 80 yard try by the visiting fullback made it a miserable end to the game for Boothtown.
