Match
report:
WYKE 21 BOOTHTOWN
TERRIERS 0
Despite
being kept scoreless
an under strength
Boothtown battled
from start to
finish and put in an awesome
tackling stint
against league
leaders Wyke.
The players from both
sides deserve
credit for their effort
throughout the
80 mins in cold
and wet conditions.
Boothtown
were put on the back
foot for the
majority of the first
half with Wyke scoring
3 tries without
reply and despite
line breaks
from veteran Dave
Love and a super effort
from Jason
Dodd, Terriers scoring
opportunities
were at a minimum as
Wyke led 14-0 at the break.
In
the second half Wyke could
only cross the whitewash
once as Boothtown tackled
superbly
and
despite Luke Brown and
Ben Mallas
striving to open up the
Wyke defence,
Terriers remained pointless.
Boothtown's
fullback Jason Dodd did
his best
to put points on the
board with an audacious
drop goal
attempt and if it had
gone 10ft higher would
have been
close, but shortly
afterwards the Wyke fullback
showed him
how its done with
a super 1 pointer that
Sky's Stevo would have
been proud of.
