If
games finished after 60
minutes Boothtown would
be a lot
higher in the table,
but in this game as many
others the last quarter
saw the game going away
from them with a mixture
of slack
tackling, indiscipline
and poor refereeing.
Thornhill struck first
with a converted try
but Terriers fought back
in the game with
stubborn tackling and
powerful running. That
powerful running brought
Boothtown
their first try with
Chris Metcalf
and Trent Ashton making
good ground
before the ball was
swung wide and Simon
Farrar sent Jason Dodd
in, Paul Rawson converted
in his first game back
after a serious
illness.
Thornhill
took the lead
once again with a try
but Boothtown
came back again and after
good work from the team,
Paul Rawson
sent Paul Kemp flying
in at the
corner to level things
at 10-10.
The
rest of the half was
a stalemate with Terriers
more than holding their
own.
Early
in the
second half Thornhill
scored
their
third try to lead again
but once
again Boothtown dug
deep and a good change
of pace
took
Jason Dodd clear and
he flew through the air
with an acrobatic dive
over
the
line, to put them
just 2 points behind.
In the
last
quarter Thornhill scored
four
further
tries but with Simon
Farrar for crossing and
Jason Dodd for a marginal
offside
both
being pulled back by
the ref, Boothtown can
count themselves slightly
unlucky. Jason Dodd had
the last
word
completing his well deserved
hat trick
after taking a quick
tap from a penalty. |
