Dearne
won against Boothtown
for
the second week in succession
with Terriers ahead for
most of the game but Dearne
finished
stronger to take the
points. Boothtown dominated
early on
and
took a deserved lead
when Wayne Steel's run
was halted with an high
tackle and the ball was
then swung
right for Trent Ashton
to plough
over in the corner.
He
then repeated it again
shortly after, taking
a Jason Dodd pass to
score his second try.
The Trent Ashton show
continued when he completed
his hat
trick
after Darren Dewhirst
fought
off
the opposition winger
and Terriers
led 12-0. Dearne Valley
scored
two
tries against the run
of play
to
pull to within 2 points
of Boothtown
. On the stroke of half
time Luke Brown danced
across field and put
out a perfect pass for
Ryan Barnes to score
in
the corner, Paul
Rawson converted from
touch and
Terriers led 18-10 at
the break.
An
mistake from Boothtown
led to
Dearne
scoring again early in
the second
half to put just 2
points between the sides
and as
both
sides pushed for the
win, niggling
fouls and mistakes came
into
the
game
but Boothtown managed
to hold
the
lead until ten minutes
from
time.
In those final ten minutes
Dearne
finished strong and
sealed an important
win in the battle for
survival
with
3 further tries. |
