report:
OVENDEN 'A' 36
BOOTHTOWN TERRIERS
24
Boothtown
had to finally succumb
to an Ovenden
side containing several
players with
conference experience
but not before giving
them a fright.
Playing up the
slope in the
first half, Boothtown
withstood Ovenden
pressure before
taking the lead
when Paul Kemp
picked up after
an Ovenden mistake
and sent Luke
Brown in from 40 yards,
Scott Lindsey's
conversion gave
them a 6-0 lead.
Ovenden
hit straight back with
2 tries to take the lead
but Boothtown
hit back to level at
12-12 when Scott Lindsey
powered over. In a topsy
turvy half
Ovenden took the lead
again with the fifth
try in a 10 minute spell
and later increased their
lead to 22-12
with another try. Just
before half
time Scott Lindsey
held the ball up and
sent Trent Ashton in to
make the half time score
22-18. In the
second half Ovenden's
experience
told as they scored
3 more tries
but Boothtown's Never
Say Die attitude
was epitomised
when Luke Charlesworth
chased and
caught Ryan Hedges when
he was a certain
try scorer.
Terriers
had the last
word with a last minute
try, Jason
Dodd followed his
kick and when he was
tackled he played the
ball quickly for the supporting
Luke Brown
to romp in and Scott
Lindsey's fourth conversion
ended a very
good Terriers performance. |
