A
new look Boothtown
with 6 debutants secured
a first day win on the
back of a great team
performance and an excellent
kicking game from Simon
Farrar and Jason Dodd.
The big Morley side started
well and quickly put
Boothtown
on the back foot, but
with big tackles the
Terriers pack defused
the attacks. Simon Farrar
then put up a towering
kick, Steve Love scrapped
for the ball and came
away with it to score
the first try and Paul
Rawson tagged on the
goal for a 6-0 lead.
Morley
came back strong and
took the lead with two
converted tries but Boothtown
didn't lie down with
Paddy Dolan,
Captain Scott Lindsey
and Dean Taylor driving
the ball forward and
Jason Dodd going close
after a 60 metre dash.
Simon Jevons then popped
the ball back in the
tackle
and Jason Dodd and Josh
Goodall combined to send
diminutive Wayne Oakes
in for a debut try, Paul
Rawson once again tagged
on the extras from wide
out to level the game
up at half time 12-12.
Early
in the second half
Jason Dodd kicked through
and when he gathered
the ball he fed Paul
Rawson
who in turn gave a scoring
pass to veteran Brian
Jackson, Paul Rawson's
faultless goal kicking
continued and Terriers
led 18-12. Boothtown
were now in charge and
took the game to Morley
with Simon Farrar's kicking
and the chasing of Paul
Rawson, Brian Jackson
and debutante's Josh
Goodall and Luke Brown
pushing them back. Morley
scored a try against
the run of play but then
Luke
brown scored two tries,
the first from close
range and the second
from another kick and
latching on to a Jason
Dodd pass and with Paul
Rawson's 100% conversion
rate it gave Terriers
a comfortable
30-16 lead. Morley mustered
a consolation try but
Boothtown held on for
the win.
